Troubleshoot a predator mouth call by identifying the exact symptom, cleaning and drying the call, separating caller technique from hardware, then inspecting the reed, sleeve or bushing, body fit, and air path. Open-reed squeals usually involve reed position, stiffness, lip pressure, or too much air. Closed-reed sticking often involves saliva, condensation, dirt, or a damaged reed. Weak volume can come from an air leak, loose mount, restrictive body, or mismatched reed. Restore the original setup before making tuning changes, and change only one variable at a time.

Start with the obvious: verify that the air path is open. Look through the bore and make sure finish, glue, dirt, or debris is not blocking it.
