Even making sure I blow from my diaphragm this call takes a lot of air, especially for howling where you want it to carry. I would recommend trying to find a friend who may own this that would let you try it. If not I would go with the Sweetwater and Windriver. Personally, to my surprise I found I like Randy Anderson's lil' dog howler. It pairs well with the Sweetwater which also requires more air but not as much as the Red Desert.
