NOTE 1: Lithium "AA" batteries are NOT recommended for use. Most currently available Lithium AA size batteries have a high individual cell voltage in the range of 1.7 - 2.0 volts. This caller is designed with speaker protection circuitry to eliminate the likelihood of damage to the speaker due to over voltage. The unit will not turn "ON" if it detects a voltage higher than 17 volts. Because some of the current standard cell Lithium AA batteries start higher than 1.7V (10 cells x 1.7V = 17 volts) this will trip the protective circuit and prevent the unit from operating.
NOTE 2: Alkaline and or Lithium "AA" batteries are NOT recommended for use in the CS24K base unit. Most currently available modern Lithium & Alkaline AA size batteries have a high individual cell voltage in the range of 1.5 - 2.0 volts. The CS24K is designed with speaker protection circuitry to eliminate the likelihood of damage to the speaker due to over voltage. The CS24K will not turn "ON" if it detects a voltage higher than 29.5 volts. Because some of the current standard cell Lithium AA batteries start higher than 1.7V (20 cells x 1.7V = 34 volts) this will trip the protective circuit and prevent the unit from operating. In addition, typical new out of the package "AA" alkaline (throw away) batteries will read 1.5 - 1.6 VDC (20 cells x 1.5V = 30 volts) which also will trip the protective circuit and prevent the unit from operating.
